The wear of fabrics refers to the phenomenon of repeated friction between fabrics or with other substances, and the fabrics are gradually worn and damaged, while the test principle of textile wear resistance refers to the ability of textiles to resist wear under the repeated friction of mechanical force. In the process of use, the fabric will be affected by various external factors, especially the frequent friction with the objects in contact with the surrounding, causing the fabric to wear and even damage to varying degrees, affecting its wearing performance.
1. Testing the abrasion resistance of fabrics can improve the utilization efficiency of textiles and is an important indicator of the quality of textile products.
The textile wear resistance test is to make the textile wear and tear phenomenon under the action of repeated mechanical friction mainly include damage, quality reduction, color fading, pilling and so on.
2. Commonly used national standards for wear resistance of textiles
Textiles with different uses have different requirements for wear resistance, and the detection methods are also different. There are many test methods for wear resistance, such as flat abrasion, curved abrasion, turning abrasion, etc. The most commonly used is flat abrasion.
According to different standard can use martindale abrasion tester, universal wear tester, taber abrasion tester, wyzenbeek abrasion tester..etc.
3. Evaluation method of fabric abrasion resistance
The conditions for determining the damage of the sample are:
The abrasion resistance of fabrics is generally analyzed and evaluated from three aspects: the determination of sample damage, the measurement of mass loss and the evaluation of appearance changes.
4. Factors affecting the wear resistance of fabrics
1. Fabric organization: The effect of fabric organization on wear resistance varies with the warp and weft density of the fabric.
2. Fabric thickness: The fabric thickness has a significant effect on the flat abrasion resistance of the fabric. The thicker the fabric, the higher the flat abrasion resistance, but the lower the flexural abrasion and edge abrasion resistance.
3. The fineness of the warp and weft yarns in the fabric: when the fabric structure is the same, the yarns in the fabric are thicker, the support surface of the fabric is large, and when the fabric is rubbed, it is not easy to produce stress concentration; and when the yarn is thick, the fiber roots included on the yarn cross-section The number of yarns is large, and the yarn is not easy to break, which is beneficial to the wear resistance of the fabric.
4. Fabric apparent density: The density and thickness of the fabric are directly related to the apparent density. Experiments have proved that when the apparent density of the fabric reaches 0.6g/cm3, the edge folding resistance becomes significantly worse.
5. Fabric square meter weight: The fabric square meter weight is extremely significant for the flat abrasion resistance of various fabrics. Abrasion resistance increases almost linearly with increasing square meter weight. But for different fabrics, the degree of influence is different. The wear resistance of woven fabrics is better than that of knitted fabrics with the same weight per unit area
